A ten-year old LaPorte boy had to undergo eye surgery after being shot in the eye on Monday with a BB gun. LaPorte Police report the child's mother informed officers her son and two friends were in her son's room at their home, in the 500 block of Park Street, when she heard a scream and found her son laying face down on his bed. Police report the child was shot in the left eye, causing it to deflate from the penetration of the BB pellet. The boy's mother immediately drove him to the hospital, but he was eventually transferred to another medical facility for the surgery. The Times reports a 13 year old boy was arrested and is being held at the LaPorte County Juvenile Services Center, charged with felony criminal recklessness. The case remains under investigation.
