One person is dead ... after a shooting on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette today. Chief of Purdue University Police Department John Cox says the shooter is in custody and seemed to have had intentions for the decedent, and took the action the he took, and then turned around and left the building and was taken into custody outside of the electrical engineering building. Cox says the campus is now reopened - except for the building where the shooting took place. He says they don't have any reason to believe that there is any other ongoing involvement by any others on campus at this point in time.
Student Nikkie Heston was in a lecture when she said she heard shots and then policeman just barged into their 300 person lecture, and evacuated the building.
The shooting occurred today around noon.
Meanwhile, Governor Mike Pence issued the following statement on the Purdue University shooting.

I commend the professionalism of the West Lafayette Police Department in apprehending the suspect and bringing the situation to a swift conclusion. The Indiana State Police are on the scene and will continue to assist local law enforcement with the ongoing investigation.”
