Record-breaking arctic cold in the Midwest. Indiana Governor Mike Pence is signing a state of emergency for at least 27 counties ... to help deal with more than a foot of snow, power outages and icy roads. Pence says, "we're dealing with extreme cold temperatures and the combination of the wind and the temperatures have set Indiana on a path where we could be experiencing the coldest temperatures we have seen in 20 years."
Pence says the plan is to shift resources to northwest Indiana, which was hardest hit by the storm and cold. About half the state, including northwest Indiana remains under a travel warning.
