A proposed plea agreement for a former Portage Middle School teacher, who pleaded guilty on two-counts of felony child solicitation, was rejected today by a Porter County Circuit Judge. The plea deal called for 45 year old Bryan Tyman to spend six years on probation, the first of which on home detention and to register as a sex offender for ten-years. He would have also lost his Indiana teaching license. Tyman admitted in September to sending sexually-themed text messages to three female students from December 2011 to December 2012 and was originally scheduled to be sentenced earlier this month, but the judge postponed whether or not to accept the plea deal until today. A trial for 45 year old Bryan Tyman has been scheduled for February 24th.
