Selena Gomez may be in the news recently for reconnecting with Justin Bieber in Austin at South by Southwest, but on Wednesday, she shared a more personal story with fans aside from all the gossip.
"I'm here to just tell you my path," she said during We Day California. "I don't like be honest with press and interviews, I like being honest with you."
After explaining how her mother had her at 16 years old and worked four jobs to make Gomez's life better, the "Come & Get It" singer, 21, said that "when I was 7, I wanted to be an actress."
"When I was 11, I had a casting director tell me I wasn't strong enough to carry my own show," she added. "It does more than knock the wind out of you, it crushes you when people try to tell you you're not good enough."
