Laura, Here's an update on "Gibbs."
We thank everyone who dropped off, sent or called in monetary donations to help us with the veterinarian expenses associated with "Gibbs." Once he was under general anesthesia, the veterinarian was able to, with minimal invasive procedures, position "Gibbs'" leg bone back to its correct placement within the hip joint. The little shaggy terrier mix will receive a follow up examination this week, and again next. If all is well with the little guy, he will be available for adoption early in November. Donations having exceeded the cost of the procedure necessary for "Gibbs" will be applied to our spay/neuter program, and/or a general health fund for other candidates to receive veterinary care

From Humane Society of Hobart:
Fund Raiser for injured dog - Public Service Announcement
"Gibbs," found in Portage and named by Shelter employees, arrived at the Shelter on October 17, 2009 with what appeared to be a displaced/dislocated hip. "Gibbs" has since received a cursory examination by a Veterinarian, who has confirmed our suspicion of "displaced/dislocated hip." He is approximately one year of age, and bubbling with joy. We are not in a financial position to offer "Gibbs" the surgical treatment he needs to lead a full and productive life. We are asking for monetary donations to assist us with this project. I am attaching a snapshot of him.

You can see why we are calling him a "shaggy terrier mix." Donations marked for "Gibbs" may be sent to PO Box 108, Hobart, Indiana or delivered in person for those who wish to meet "Gibbs" at the Shelter, 2054 East State Road 130. Hobart, Indiana. 10AM to 4PM Monday - Saturday and noon to 4PM on Sunday.
Any help you can give us to assure this wonderful little dog a chance at life will be gratefully appreciated. Best Regards, Julie Nover-Horn, President, Humane Society of Hobart
